Player-Safe Session Report

Last session ended with Bon, Edmund, and Rowan lying on the floor of Shedgery’s Shack’s sleeping hall, tangled up in what was left of their hammocks, with an attacker beside them on the floor, and several more closing in.

Bon had hit his head pretty hard on the floor and now lay unconscious.1 Rowan decided to preempt the attacker and searched his sack for something to hit them with, but in the heat of the moment, he only managed to grab his waterskin. With this, he began hitting the unknown figure in the face. Water spilling everywhere, one of the hits landed harder than expected, and with an uncomfortable cracking sound, the body went limp beneath Rowan.

This made the other attackers hesitate, a moment Edmund used to cast Vapours Of Dream, sending three of the five into a slumber. Seeing this, the other two decided to make a run for it.

Meanwhile, over on the boat hanging from the ceiling of the drinking hall, Lord Ratbane (in his cat-like Chester form) woke up to what seemed like very rough seas. He looked outside and saw that a fight had broken out between the different crews. A few of the sailors were rocking the boat.

Ratbane decided to loosen most of the nets hanging over the hall, so that they would be taken down with the boat once the ropes holding it in place snapped. It didn’t take long for this to happen, and the nets fell down on the whole hall of drunken sailors, pinning them to the ground under nets of heavy ropes.

This was the scene Edmund and Rowan walked in on carrying Bon, and the party decided to hide out in the kitchen — after all, this was the meeting place they had put on the posters they hung up all over town.

One of the more drunken sailors decided to throw a burning torch at them, setting the place on fire in the process.

The party unanimously decided that the right move would be to lock all the sailors inside the burning building, so that’s what they did. They then went to the mayor and told him that someone or something had set fire to Shedgery’s Shack.

The mayor immediately rang the bells, alerting the rest of the village, and the people started extinguishing the fire.

Afterwards, the party hid in the crowd that had gathered before the Shack, and saw a red-faced priest-like figure use the occasion to warn the townspeople that dying inside a burning building is what happens to you when you sin.

Since the night wasn’t salvageable at this point, they decided to again check out the burned-out farmhouse in the north of town they had been to during the day. This time, they removed the inconspicuous pile of rubble in the corner and to everyone’s complete surprise found a locked trapdoor beneath it. Outsmarting the locking mechanism, they decided to knock. And a few moments later, they heard a muffled “Who’s there!?” from inside…
