Player-Safe Session Report
Last session ended at the Jaunty Horn inn, with Lord Ratbane drunk on mice and drawing attention from people he had tried to rob in the past. These people turned out to be four farmer brothers, who sometimes travel the Ditchway to sell their wares in Lankshorn. Ratbane had tried — and failed — to rob them in the past, but they were still pretty unhappy to see him.
But Ratbane managed to charm a few of them with his song, and Bon took care of the rest. Ratbane even saw his chance and finally managed to “rob” them of a few copper pieces.
Afterwards, the party got to know the brash, boastful Jesibelle better, and Rowan ordered some raw meat. This turned out to be a kind of specialty for the Jaunty Horn, but there was a slight mismatch in expectations regarding the amount of meat the situation called for. So shortly after ordering, one of Jesibelle’s children delivered a giant batch of raw mystery meat to the party’s table. Rowan fed some to Kriemhild (the crow he’s been carrying with him in a box for a few weeks) and the rest was ultimately shared between everyone at the inn.
Ratbane decided to sleep in the pantry where the “food” lived, and the party spent a restful night overall at the Jaunty Horn.
The next morning, there was a surprising number of people still hanging around in the inn’s common rooms. Jesibell informed the party that this was because Lankshorn had been put under quarantine, and that nobody was allowed in or out at this point in time.
So the direction our fearless heroes would head was decided: towards Dreg, straight away from Lankshorn and the friends they had made there.
Along the way, they came upon a weird creature lying drunk in the grass by the wayside, which Rowan’s player would later describe as “the Nose Juice Man that did secrete Mead”. The creature had a lot of packs and all of them were strewn around it in the grass. It asked them for weird items, and had bizarrely long, telescopic fingers. 1 Ratbane tried to rob the creature, but ultimately the party decided to move on and leave the thing be.
Arriving in the small port town of Dreg later that day, their noses were immediately filled with the strong odour of smoked fish. At the entry to the village stood a statue of a mermaid, at the centre of a fenced pool. Naturally, Rowan put Ratbane up to climbing onto its head and playing a song on his flute. Ratbane threw the copper he had robbed the peasants of into the pool, and the party went on, to the fish market at the heart of town.
Here, they ignored the weird, religious zealot spouting gospel, and turned towards the town hall, which they are about to enter…
